Annette Hurley has over 30 years’ experience in Human Resource Management, specialising in Recruitment and Selection, Training, and Career Development and Management.

After a successful career in administration and sales, Annette commenced her HR career as the Marketing Manager and Placement Officer at a private business college which specialised in re-training women to re-enter the workforce.

Annette later joined a hospitality recruitment agency to manage their hospitality division, which serviced a broad range of local, national and international hospitality clients. She then joined an international recruitment company, where she recruited a broad spectrum of positions from executive to management and service personnel, across a wide variety of industries and professions.

After a flourishing career Annette founded her own executive recruitment consultancy, private employment agency, career and development centre, and registered training organisation, which she successfully grew and managed for over a decade.

Health issues and a change in family circumstances led Annette to rethink her own strategy. She decided to take time out to heal and be with her young family. This led her on a journey of self-discovery and personal growth. She describes this life changing event as the best thing that has happened to her, from both a personal and professional perspective.

In 2009, Annette began lecturing and tutoring in both undergraduate and postgraduate subjects at Griffith University Business School and later at Open Universities Australia. She continues to teach in a variety of business and communication subjects. She has been invited to write, lecture and tutor in management and communication courses, including co-creating and presenting the postgraduate Recruitment and Selection course and creating the undergraduate Recruitment and Selection course. She trusts the guidance she gives her students inspires them to become more compassionate and caring managers and recruiters.

Now in 2017, Annette is back doing what she loves best. With a new image under The Acorn Group, she is able to work effectively in placing professionals and executives in the best positions, while obtaining the job of their dreams. The Acorn Group specialises in Executive Recruitment and Business Mentoring, connecting people with the best in the business, and provides coaching for entrepreneurs.
